DH just photographed this little possum (Didelphis virginiana) in the back yard. Just look at those tender little pink toes… The possum is the only marsupial found in North America.

Thanks, Mary-Frances! I've only ever posted one picture of the backyard on the blog. It's a "panoramic" view taken after a snowstorm(February 2006 archives). We live on approximately five acres in the NJ Pine Barrens where there is a diversity of plant and animal life. It's a little swampy here but I love it!
Beautiful photo of this little fellow so useful in gardens. Guido, my visiting possum, loves to snoop around for fruits. They are such cute and funny creatures.
